I am looking at getting a new rest after the season. I am looking at drop away rests, and have been intrigued by the new savage drop away rest. has anybody had experience with these rests? I would appreciate any responses on any type of drop away rest. Also, what are the benefits of the drop away over the standard spring loaded type rest.
I haven't used these but still use the old Barner rests. I've been the route with all of the 3-D rests but have had 4 of the Barner's put away and just put one on a bow I rebuilt today. My 12 year old has been shooting a Barner for 6 years. I do use TM Hunter style prongs in them though.

I currently have a savage derringer drop away rest on my bow. I'm still not convinced that it is all it claims to be: the rest drops during the draw and at full draw, yet I still have slight fletch contact (its supposed to drop as the arrow moves forward 3"). It is adjustable so I can avoid the unwanted drops, but that will probably increase fletch contact.
I can't wait for excited hunting situation when I'm at full draw and have to play up, down, up down... with the rest.
I may have to change to a bisket before then.
To defend the savage rest, it does make good arrow flight and is quiet.

I believe there is a report on them and the Muzzy on another thread. It was a good report.
