Have friends who shoot 880's and really like them, I use a 883 for squirrels late in the season and all the leaves are gone. Works well here in Wis.

I bought a Marlin 880sq last fall for my squirrel gun when my Remington broke. I really like it. Alot of people don't like the plastic stock. I like because it is light and tuff, I won't worry about a little scratch like I would on a walnut stock. I put a Leupold 2-7x32 on it with Millett rings. When I went to sight the scope in the first time at 25yds, I put the second shot in the hole of the first shot. I had to fire a third to make sure. That gave me a pretty good first impression. I really didn't go though different ammo to see what it likes, I started with Federal 711 and stayed with it. It shoots about a 1/2" groups at 50yds. I didn't target shoot with it that much, only to sight it in. The only thing I changed was a spring to lighten the trigger alittle. Lately I been target shooting and plinking with my CZ, but when squirrel season comes this fall, I'll be using the Marlin again.

i own a marlin model 80. bolt action, extremely accurate, i put a simmons 3-9x32 with weaver scope rings, its got the walnut stock, i dont think they make them any more. if you can get ahold of one take advantage of it.
