It's a great cartridge.
It totally depends on what it is{mark3,4,or 5}
The forestock can be a little tricky to get of at times depending on the model you have.
If it shoots good then it is definatly worth refinishing both the stock and reblueing the metal.
I have a couple 303 my self and love shooting them.
Ammo can be cheap if you only want to use military ammo too.
You can really make them hum good if you reload for them and get some really possitive results in accuracy.

the forestock was a little tricky to get off but i got it and the gun is a mark 3. can anyone tell me more about it.
The rifle he is talking about has a 1964 date and India stamped on the side. The barrel looks mirror bright and the rifling is neer to perfect. Someone had painted all of the metal black but is in very good shape......Mike

Find out if the action is strong enough and in good shape and get the headspace checked.
If it all works out then reload for it.I will probably like a .312 bullet better than anything else and depending on what you want to do with it shooting wise will depend on the weight of bullet you use.
Once you find out or figure out what you want to use the rifle for, send me a message and I can give you some pointers on what sort of loads you can load for it.
