Has anyone seen the pictures and or story on what is supposedly the largest Elk ever shot with any kind of weapon. It supposedly was shot with a bow and supposedly in the Selway-Bitterroots in Idaho. The reason there are so many "supposedly's" in here is because they say it was a "high-fence" elk. I didn't know Idaho had any high-fence locations. I will have to say it is one enormous elk. Green scores 575 and after drying they figure it will score 530+. Some of the pictures I seen showed him eating out of a bucket, but that may have also been a salt lick. Beautiful animal regardless of where it was taken.

That pic is on the B&C trophy watch list, and is stated to have been raised/shot in a high-fenced property in Quebec. Just for reference, here's a pic of the bull.

Idaho does have "Elk farms" as I saw one when I was there a few years ago. They sold Elk meat and antlers. Don't know if there are any hunting ranches that offer fenced Elk but the Idaho G&F would have a registry if there is. It is a giant for sure but I do suspect it's a raised Elk. Wild ID Elk tend to be lean and mean.

Yep, ID has plenty of elk 'farms' also severl very good harvest hunt areas.

The subject elk came from a controlled raise 'em/shoot 'em spot in Canada.

Nah, think of all the time that fella took to gather the amount of $ it cost to shoot that thing.

A local release and shoot outfit would charge probably more than $50k for that one:rolleyes:

Can get an 'over the hill' bull w/a pot belly and no teeth and a decent rack for about 5K.

A cow may be 'harvested' for $295 or thrown in w/the price of a bull. Plus 200 buck tip for the PH;) Its dirt cheap.

This post didn't sound as humorous as it should have, huh?:(

Actually Roy, you may not be that far off. Sad to say.

It's not the Anti's that will stop hunting...it's the damn high cost of hunting game. A saber-tooth grasshopper is already over $5K and before long we won't be able to afford the hard to draw tags for humpbacked elkasaurus. By the time these money hungry "game manager" genius's get through cross breeding every game animal in the world we're going to behold the magnificent horned antlered multi-tusked Elephinostagneramous. And for the nominal price of only $60 thousand dollars for a cull stooge. I'm in the wrong bizness.
