Man it was cold yesterday morning. Six degrees and breezy, got a little frost bite on my toes. Surprized I even hit him. Two hours of trying to be still and shivering violently. But, I did get this 21 inch outside spread 5 by 5. Now all I have to fill is my archery tag.

Nice deer man. Congratualtions. Saw a nice little 4 pointer in the lot right behind the house....maybe as big as that but he didn't have a very big body. Go out in this cold a comin and get a bow buck!!

Jonesy,
That's an awesome looking buck. Good mass, hight, spread.. Looks like he could use something to eat though!? J/K :D Thats going to look good mounted, speaking of mounting.. what type mount are you getting done, sneak, alert? A friend of mine shot a monster back in the 80s & had him mounted looking down & left & had a doe mounted looking up & right beneath the buck, it looks very neat!

I don't do any type of shoulder mounts on my deer. I either shape wood on to the cap and wrap with buck skin or boil the skull and put them on barnwood. Don't take up near the space or collect as much dust. I do a lot of that type of mounting for other people, been doing that for twenty years. Even do some for several local taxidermists. Have done about a dozen the past several weeks and am working on eight more right now. Have some more to pick up, but not sure how many.

I just save the capes for the guy Nulle had the picture of with the Western South Dakota buck. Fred is the sheriff, does taxidermy and has a guide service. Never asked for anything for the capes I've given him over the years, maybe I'll get a get out of jail free card sometime!
