Around here we use the standard old salt blocks from Tractor supply to leave for licks for deer. I am thinking about dumping out a few of the mineral blocks this year as well, BUT when I look at mineral blocks aimed at deer they are either made of gasoline or milk judging by the prices. A general purpose mineral block from TSC runs only $8.38 for a 33 1/3 # block. The best whitetail aimed block I find is from Cabelas. The 25# whitetail institute 4-play mineral block runs $20 plus shipping. Around here the only whitetail blocks availble for pickup are little 5# blocks for around $17 a piece.

Anyway like I said anybody use the plane jane old mineral blocks for deer? I know we use to see them eating them alot when we had cattle, but thought I would ask.

oh FYI we pay around $5 for a 50lb salt block at TSC. Just thought I would throw that in. 4 of them usually lasts most of a year for the deer around here, but it sure does bring them in.
