I was in a gun shop today and saw some CMP 1917s on the used gun rack. All were Eddystones and the conditions were NRA excellent on the exterior, but the bores varied. One had a Johnson made barrel, another had a 2-groove barrel (Springfield?) and the one I bought had an original mint barrel dated 9-18. The shop owner handpicked these rifles from the CMP. They were in the best condition I have seen in years. All the best...

Gil,
These rifles are all over the map when it comes to prices. How much were they selling for? Take care...

Gil and Joe,
The pickings get slimmer year by year for P-17s. I have all 3 P-17s and now need to get new insurance. The prices and premiums keep going UP! Some of us old guys may have lived too long.....
May I add that the Tioga County (PA) Historical Society is accepting gifts of historically significant arms. As President, I will evaluate donations and send a letter to donors for tax purposes. Send me a PM if you wish to add to our hiostorical collection.
