We had a Wild Bunch match last weekend. Took my son-in-law along for this event. I shot a Lebel rifle and a French Ordinance revolver while I equipped the S-L with a 1903 MK-1 Springfield and a 1911A1.
Neither of us place all that well but we had a ball! I've been working with a Vetterli-Vitali, and a Italian Ord. 10.4mm revolver with an eye to shooting them at the next match. I figure that will provide comedy relief if nothing else!
Cheers

Old Scout,
Your Wild Bunch Match sounds like fun. How many folks participate, what is the course of fire and what is the most exotic militaria you have ever seen? Who won using what this year?

Howdy Adam
We shoot the same scenario as the Cowboy shooters but with the rifle targets out 75 to 150 yds, with one handgun 5 rounds/reload 5, one rifle 5 rounds/reload 5, and a shotgun ( usually 4 or 5 rds ). The arms can be anything in service before 1916 without aperture sights.
It is not necessary to match up guns, but I like to do so. I have at present:
Win 07
Colt New Service
Ross 1905
Webley Mk-VI
Arisaka 38 Carbine ( also have a rifle )
Type 26 Revolver ( and a Nambu '14 )
Commission '88
Mauser 1896
Styer 1890 ( also have a '95 )
Styer 1912
Lebel 1886
French Ord Revolver
Moisin/Nagant '91
Nagant 1895
1903 Mk-1
1911A1
The current project has been the Vetterli-Vitali 6.5mm and the Italian 10.4mm Ord revolver. I'm looking for a Swiss Nagant to go with my 1911 S/R. Have a nice '91 Carcano but haven't had time to play with it.
I'm not fond of shotguns, and generally shoot a Stevens/Browning 520 ( 1911 ), or a Win '97.
We have people shooting Rem 11, Rem 8, Luger, Mauser '96, all manner of Mauser 91/93/95/96/98 rifles.
As for weird guns, I think I have that cornered !! Think the top man had a Mauser of some sort but remember what else. I'm to old and beat up now to win anything, Just go out for the fun of playing with these old Militaries.
Cheers
