I have a Rossi carbine in 357 Mag that doesn't like lead bullets. Yeah, they shoot just fine, but I seem to have a rough edge somewhere that scrapes a little lead off and eventually the gun jambs. Rather that fix the problem (duh!) I asked my wife to pick me up a box of 357's in FMJ the next time she was in town. She brought back a box of Magtech 158 gr FMC-Flat.

I was going on a hog hunt in a week and decided to zero the gun with the new ammo (we were using dogs and the shots would be less than 50 yds, so I figured a 357 would be just fine).

My first test shot told me something was very different. I have fired a lot of 38's and 357's through this gun, but these Magtechs really barked. A dozen shots later my shoulder was black and blue. It was like this 357 was a +P ... or a 44 Mag! And, I was getting really good groups.

Fast forward one week: One shot, one dead pig, dropped like a rock. Awesome.

Now, if I can only duplicate this load on my reloading bench.

I use them in 45acp in my 1911s and like them better than any other FMJ 235 gr. on the market. Now getting to expensive, but that's ok have lot of empty brass to load up.

I understand they make an awesome self-defense load in 45 ACP. They call it Guardian Gold.

I bought 2 boxes of .44mag Magtech ammo a few years ago, and put it aside. Well not too long ago I wanted to shoot the .44, but had not loaded any ammo for it......Well out came the Magtech, and off to the range we went!...............

I was very disappointed! :(
I was very (IMHO) weak....Very,Very WEAK!

I even had my buddy shoot it.....He just kind of laughed about it..."That's pretty lame ammo, dude!" was the reaction I got.

I will reload the brass, but I don't think I'll buy more, unless the price is very very good!

I buy magtech quite a bit when I can find them. My favorite are the 357 158gr semijacketed softpoints. Now bare this in mind. Make sure she didn't actually pick you up +Ps. My one complaint ever about magtech is sometimes their box labeling requires a microscope to see little things like that.

Their ammo, however, has always performed consistantly for me.

Good stuff.
