My latest project just completed. Model 38 Arisaka rechambered 6.5 x 55,stocked with Boyds with pistol grip trim added, bolt forged for scope, metal done with Duracoat coyote. This will be my grandson"s deer rifle.

What type of finish is on the metal? Looks great, thanks for sharing. All the best...

Metal finish is Duracoat manufactured by Lauer and the color is Coyote . I have been using this for about (3) years now and prefer it to bluing if building a rifle that will be used in the field. Extremely durable in all weather conditions and storage.

That is about the nicest Japanese military surplus rifle conversion that I have ever seen. Take care...

That is a very nice looking conversion of the Arisaka!
The Duracoat sure looks different- I'd be interested to know how it holds up, as compared to blueing. I'm also curious- was there a reason you didn't Duracoat the bolt handle?

I have been using Duracoat for about (3) years on milsurp conversions and am very satisfied with resistance to weather as none of my rifles are safe queens.
In reference to not coating the bolt,I prefer the contrast.
