GP100 carry question
I recently bought a Ruger GP100, .357mag, 4" barrel and was wondering if anyone carries this (or any similar) concealed. How do you carry? IWB, on the hip with concealment clothing, fanny pack, etc.? I have an IWB holster that fits pretty well and will probably end getting one of the concealment vests that are out there. I'm a decent size guy so concealing this weapon on my person won't be a problem, I just don't want it printing while I'm walking around. Also, I won't be carrying all the time: Mountain Home is a small town and Boise isn't much bigger compared to where I'm from. Just looking for some ideas. Thanks.

BEFORE I FINISHED BUILDING MY 45ACP COMPACT I CARRIED A RUGER SECURITY SIX, 357. I USED A KIRKPATRICK CROSS DRAW HOLSTER. WHY CROSSDRAW? BECAUSE FOR ME IT SEEMED FASTER AND I WAS MORE COMFORTABLE WITH IT. FASTER THAN A SHOULDER RIG, AND BESIDES THAT I DIDN'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE STRAPS. I'M ON THE THIN SIDE, 5'10" AND 150#. IF I CARRIED A STANDARD PISTOL CONCEALED I LOOKED LIKE A PYTHON THAT JUST SWALLOWED A PIGLET. HERE IN NORTH DAKOTA IT IS IMPERATIVE TO WEAR THICK COATS DURING WINTER TIME. KIND OF HARD TO DRAW EXPEDITIOUSLY WHEN YOU HAVE TO DIG UNDER A COUPLE OF LAYERS OF CLOTHES TO FIND YOUR PIECE. WITH CROSSDRAW YOU SIMPLY REACH DOWN WITH LEFT HAND AND GRAB THE LAYERS OF CLOTHES, LIFT UP AND THERE IS OLD LUCKY JUST WAITING TO BE CARESSED. ALSO SAVED A LOT OF SPORT JACKETS WHEN I WAS ON DUTY. PISTOLS HAVE LOTS OF EDGES TO GET CAUGHT ON THINGS. I SEE BY YOUR PROFILE YOUR AIR FORCE. GOOD MAN. I WAS A AFSC 462, I DON'T KNOW IF THEY HAVE SPECIALTY CODES ANYMORE. I WAS IN MUNITIONS. We got F-16C/Js, F-15C/Ds and F-15Es: one squadron of each. From and AMMO point of view it means a lot of stuff to build cuz, between the 3 squadrons, they carry just about everything in the inventory.

I was on the load standerization team. Worked on 100's mostly. My home base was Bien Hoa but went TDY to Pleiku, Cam Ran Bay, Phang Rang, and Takli (sp) Thailand for training (arm and dearm) F-4's, 106's, etc. I extended an extra 6 months in country so that I would have less than a year when I returned to the States. That made a total of 18 months in country and one free 30 day leave. Alot of the guys with more than a year left after Viet Nam got orders for Thailand. I did'nt want to take the chance so with 11 months left they sent me to Kincheloe in upper Michigan. From TAC to SAC (sac sucks:D ) Then in their infinite wisdon the USAF put me on the load standerization team for 52's. Three years on fighters and they stick me on bombers and a instructor to boot. Anyhow I stayed in for 4 years made staff about 6 months before I got out. All my buddies called me "Lifer". Went back to college on the G.I.Bill and got a bachlors in Business Administration and have been selling real estate for 26 years.

Hey guys, I was a 463 for 4 years at Cheyenne and Vandenberg, Minuteman III, then 6 years 461 with the St Louis Air Guard, F-4's and F-15's.
Actually after 6 years in TAC, (the command in search of a mission) I realized that SAC might have been nutz at times, but they knew what they were there for. I'm in a C-5 unit at Memphis now and for all intents and purposes, they're a relly large unscheduled airline. |

I liked F-4's, I mostly did the gravity bombs, Mk-62's and 82's, and a lot of the 20mm. I didn't care for the F-15A's. We lost our air to mud mission and missiles are kinda boring. Except that we got to go to William Tell one year, that was cool. I built the re-entry vehicles for the MMIII from 1972-1976 at Cheyenne and Vandenberg, a couple of side trips to Minot and Grand Forks were alright. I like this website, I get some really good advice on reloads and hunting techniques. My main misison in life right now is to give coyotes something to worry about. They have decimated my chickens and even killed one of our dogs. I am not picky about what i kill them with eihter, 257 roberts, 223 Rem, 357 magnum, shotgun, you name it. Although, I tend to use the 223 Savage 10FP. It's just very reliable. |
