Daisy Model 990?

My wife came home from a garage sale today with a Daisy Model 990 that she bought for $5. It is in like new shape and is a very interesting gun. It can be used as a multi-pump or CO2 and uses either BBs or .177 pellets. I can't find anything on this gun via the Internet and wondered if any of you have ever heard of it.

BTW: I pumped it up 10 strokes and it shot darn well with pellets. According to the manual it's supposed to do 660 fps. I might shoot it over my chronograph just to see if it will. It should be fun to play with and maybe put fear into the hearts of the chipmunks who chewed the wiring in my boat trailer.

What? Has nobody ever heard of this? Either it's so rare that I can sell it for a million bucks, or it was so bad that they only made one of them.:D

it must by a typo. it they made affordable airguns that worked on pump or CO2 action, it would be all over the internet boards.

It's no typo. I e-mailed Daisey and it was discontinued (I think) in 2000. I don't have the message before me right now. You can pump it up or flip a switch and use CO2. It shoots straight too.

that sounds pretty nice. you can pump it up manually between shots and save the CO2 but when you need a quick quick followup shot you can switch it to the CO2.

sort of like in the movie spinal tap, when they wanted it really loud they would crank it up to eleven.

I never thought about it that way. I'll have to check to see if it can be pumped while the CO2 capsule is in place.

you're right about the 990 model. it was discontinued in 2000 and has a CO2 "magazine" right?
