Glock aftermarket sights, or sight alignment help

I bought a Glock 19 just after Christmas. I love everything about this gun except the wacky sight alignment. According to the instruction booklet the front post is half way above the rear dovetail. Is this actually correct? If so why would Glock make the alignment so awkward? At 25y my target has a vertical string:o .

If I bought adjustable sights, could I raise the rear sight to make the alignment "normal"?

Does "Perfect Impact" = "proper sight alignment"?

gregarat,

I bought my Glock 19 years ago when WalMart sold them. If I remember right, Several of my handguns needed to have quite a few rounds run through them to settle down and shoot right or smooth out or break-in the barrel. I changed out the guide rod to a steel one and different spring and changed out the striker spring with a lighter one from Wolff to help the trigger pull but still have the factory sights on mine. That doesn't mean that I wouldn't if I found I needed to though. BM

I think the problem is more me, than the gun.
The patern is only a few inches wide, its the vertical spread that is poor.

I only put 100rds through it, so it isnt realy broken in yet.
I am a noob with a handgun, so lack of practice probobly has ALOT to do with it.

Im tempted to file the front post down a little bit. Just so the alignment is normal.
