and here's a mess of bream and crappie..taken from a local pond round here..
Now that looks like a whole lot of work to me, glad I started doing catch and release. Do you do the fillet thing, or do you skin them all?
I skin the cats..the bream & crappie I scale and gut em or filet..depends on if I feel like pickin the bones out er not..the skin is good on em when ya fry em up in batter & peanut oil and the bones help when yer cookin cause they aint so slimy-tastin with bones in em. dern, now I'm ready fer a fish fry..yummy..:D
That big catch of bream & crappie was good fer that pond..the farmer wanted alot of fish out of it..round here..iffin nobody fishes a pond, it'll git runned over by lil bream and crappie. They overpopulate so bad, that every fish you catch aint no bigger than the bait on yer hook. This is true esp. when the big bass fishers decide to catch nuthin but the big bass that eat all those lil fish, and they keep em. Without the bass and fish like em, you have no means of keepin the population in check, esp. in a small pond. |
