Have approximately 35 years of reloading experience with rifles, shotguns and auto-pistols but I am new to loading for a revolver. Have a Redhawk in 41 Mag and a 7 1/2 bbl. How do I determine how far out to seat the bullets? I'll be shooting 215 Gr. cast for silhouette and similar weight Jacketed Hollowpoints for antelope & deer hunting.

All of the manuals show the OAL much shorter than I use in my Contender so I don't believe that is the answer.

With a revolver you can seat the bullets clear to the end of the cylinder and you will still have a big jump to the rifleings so there is no real need to worry alot about bullet jump like in a gun with a fixed chamber. If your useing bullets with a cantlure just crimp in it. With cast bullets there is usually a gas ring you can crimp in that is near the correct lenth. With heave loads you will have to crimp the bullets in hard enough to keep them from pulling when fireing. Do get carried away though, if you can see the roll on the end of the brass it`s usually enough. Load cylinder load and fire them all but the last one, then take it out and see if the bullet has moved. If it has put alittle more crimp on them, 1/4 turn on the seating adj, and try again. There is not that much difference than loading rifle ammo, and a smart man like you will have no trouble. ;)
