Results from the new .280

I've been asking for load data on a .280 with a 154 grain Hornady Interbond. Here's the result of my range work.
.340 at 100 yards! Gotta like it. I know, it's only a three shot group, but I'm not complaining! My load was 58.5 grains of RL22 with Norma brass and CCIBR2 primers. This is a max load in the Hornady book, so PLEASE, approach it with caution.
This rifle started as a Remington Mountain Rifle LSS with hinged floorplate. It was customized by Matt Strickland of Spearfish Gunsmithing. He did all the blueprinting, etc. and put on a Lilja #2 barrel at 24".
Just wanted to share my joy. I can't wait for November!

Get a good gunsmith to fit a Lilja bbl has to be one of the nicest things a fella can do for himselt.

#2 is nice and light. I have a #4 in 270 and it's a bit heavy. 3 shot groups are plenty.

Lets see 0.340 x 10 = 3.40. So if you disregard the small stuff like, wind, mirage, shooting angle, etc., that's a dead chuck every time @ a thousand. Cool huh?

Should be enough energy there to do in a deer @ 800 yds or so and an elk a bit closer. Ya gotta love that rifle. Also RL-22 seems to be made for that case regardless of the caliber as long as its under 30.

Good shootin'
