rebuild
well i took a good hard look at that beat up .243win i was just given. some bad rusting in some spots. i also remember shooting some federal 100gr. partitions that had real moly coating and not cleaning it after(i was younger and dumber). thinking about reusing the sako action and older leupold 3x9. maybe a black synthetic stock and new blued barrel. my questions are:
if i were to send it out to have it rebarreled by a reputable company, about what kind of prices would i be looking at in say a 22" or 24" length? does a bolt action wear out over time like a barrel? could i drop the newly rebarreled action into a new stock myself? |
oops! could someone move this to the gunsmith forum? thanks.

model70, here is a barrel maker I have used for three rebarreled rifles. The last one was a custom caliber wildcat I had a reamer made for from my design and they did a great job on it.
