any deer attracting tips?
 

i been lookin for some good ways to get the deer out of the woods and into my plots. i have plots that are just off thick brush thickets and the deer seem to like it in there so much they wont come out during the day. only does are coming out if it is still shooting hours. anybody got any good methods or tips to bring em in out of the woods better.

I would say that if you are seeing does during the day to hold tight because you should start seeing the bucks not far behind in the near future with the pre-rut and rut activity starting up (not sure as to the timing of the rut in your neck of the woods but assume that it's later than up North here in the Midwest)

You may also want to consider making a mock scrape with a daytime dripper that drips scent only during the day to help condition daytime visits providing you have a corner tree on a trailedge of your food plots.

The bucks are probaly nocturnal in your area-especially with the higher temps. Are you seeing any signs of night time feeding in your plots? Do you have a trailcam set-up over your area? You may want to put one on your Christmas list to see whose been visiting.

we are using a product called comeer deer we mix it with shelled corn usually really bring them in close to dark

most of the stuff are just gimmiks.4 years ago i saw a commercial and tried"buck grub".it states after about a week the deer will find it.they were right on the button.i have a pic on the buck grub web site
we were hunting along canyons andand deep ravines.in some area we just could notget the big guys to come up out of the bottoms.a buddy told me to try," com monscents".it is a scent disoenser that sprays every 3.5 minutes.it worked great in west texas. this year i took it to east texas and it was awesome.the bucks will run firectly to the dispenser. i had a small buck licking the dispenser. go to their web site. both these products have been awesom for me.

Why all of this interest in "attracting" deer ????
Do what hunters are supposed to do: HUNT THEM DOWN AND
SHOOT THEM !!!! If you have to resort to attracting deer instead
of accually using skill to hunt them down, then get the hellout of the woods. JMHO !!

you are living in a dream world.many area are not condusive to stalking.the majority if texas is just that way.who are you to tell us to stay out of the woods when you know nothing about us?many areas here are open areas and the deer will be gone before you see them.do you wear camo?why are you hiding from the deer?

I have family in Bedford , Leander and Austin. I have hunted on many occasions in the leander / Austin area. I meant what I said;
I HUNT my game. I do the same wheather I am hunting in MN, TX
or my favorite, WY. I don't sit on a tri-pod overlooking a big pile of bait. I stalk, rattle, glass or just plain sit at ambush points. But I
WILL NOT bait game. JMHO!!!

do you wear camo?why do you hide from the deer?out ancestors did not use camo so why do you?if you have to wear camo then maybe you shoulkd get out of the woods?having people live in texas does not have a singlr thing to do with stalking game. you are just too full of yourself

Yes a doe, these work well this time of year lol

For your info papi, our ancestors DID use camo. It was in the form
of animal hides and leather garments dripping with fringe in order
to break up a hunters outline. Strike two! They also used scents
to cover-up their smell in the form of glands from animals that they had previously killed. Strike three!. In case you haven't
figured it out, I hunt with a wood bow and wood arrows. I also use a patched round-ball and black powder. Some people shoot
game. Some people hunt game.

the purpose in the scents and clothes is to fool the game. the purpose of baits is to fool the pain.STRIKE THREE!!!!!!you are not the hunter you think you are if you have to use scent and camo.no different than a attractant.you are a legend in your own mind

Careful there papi. I never said that I use those methods. Don't
be putting words into sentences that I never wrote!!!! I am VERY
confident in both my abilities and results. I HUNT, some people
simply try to SHOOT their game. FYI, I am a certified Firearms
Safety and Advanced Hunter Education Instructor for the State
of Minnesota. I stand by my ethics.

Now them cornfields down that way may be easier to find deer just combine them!
Look how different hunting the area of the state you are in to up here in this part of the state!
Most people do not realize that down there your season is just a couple days for firearms season and then only shotgun with single slug or a muzzle-loader or a handgun or archery equipment is legal for use in taking whitetail.
Archery season runs from mid-sept to 31-dec.
Muzzleloader season would give you a two week season but then there is zero hunter pressure and a whole lot of country to try to let a deer find you.
Down in the farm country you have to hunt for them as they will hole up in a cornfield till dark once the first orange coat makes it's appearance that saturday morning in november!
Use of bait up here is a violation of state statue!
FYI,I am also a Certified Firearms Instructor and a Law Enforcement Officer with the White Earth Band of Ojibwa.
I am a licenced peace officer in the state of Minnesota and would personally take into custody someone I happened upon hunting over bait on state land!
You'll forfit your firearm,your hunting/fishing priviliges for five years and pay the state on average $975.00.
Now strike what?
Every state is different and has different statues and game-codes.

i am not sure what your training has to do with this.i am a retired deputy sheriff here in texas and a academy instructor for almost 15 years.
camo or bait are all for the same thing.they are there to fool the deer's senses.some areas and states are easier to hunt than others.texas is wide open with over 90% of the land privately owned.you could walk or sit for days and never see a deer withing range.people use scents and corn and protein feeders.the biggest majority of the hunters never shoot a deer over feed.
do not be so high and mighty. you are doing what you can to fool the deer's senses.being on a reservation also has nothing to do with hunting deer.
