Deer hunting with military surplus arms.

Today was an Indian Summer day here on the farm. I put a few hay bales at Fort Edward, Fort Ti and Fort Niagara. Two weeks from tomorrow we have the opening of the PA rifle deer season. We have very few deer, so I am merely going through the motions this year. I will open the deer season with a Yugo M48A and accurate handloads. On day #2, I will have a K31 Swiss in Fort Ti.

Gil,

Where will opening day find you and what military arm will you be using?

It depends

Adam,
Looks like when I come up to see you I will be toting a sporterized 1903-A3 with a 3-9X scope. It is supposed to rain on opening day, but this rifle can take it. All the best...

Gil,

It was 9 degrees and snowing yesterday morning. It is warming up; opening day has a good chance of rain and a hign of 54 is predicted. It will be the same for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Mary Lou will use the scoped .243 and I will have the 48A. I expect both guns to get wet and will detail strip and dry them after the hunt. We will sit opening day because of the hunting camps nearby. Fort Edward is all set up for you.

Adam
