Pictures can be hard to judge, but the elk appears to be a 300 class bull, conservatively. 6x7, unless you have a bigger bull spotted I think you better take a shot like this anywhere on any public land. If you're on a private ranch somewhere you may want to hold out for a bigger one. An old guide told me if you can get a 12" ruler between the gap of the 5 & 6th point the bull will go around 300. If he lifted his head he'd look a whole lot bigger too.

I think caribou are harder to judge, but it wouldn't take me long to decide on this one. I've shot em smaller.

I would shoot at either of them they look like shooters to me...
