Our newest member of the family

Almost 7 weeks ago my big baby Cat, my Wolfhound, had pups. She wasn't supposed to but her buddy, a Yellow Lab from six miles away, snuck in while we wasn't watchin. And well we all know the end result of that.

We swore up and down that we were NOT keepin one of the pups. It lasted about five weeks after they were born, then this guy just did it to us.

So this is Chevy. At six weeks, last Sunday, he was a whopping 16 pounds. I expect he'll be pushin 150 pounds when he's all growed up. A gentle giant for sure. :)

Awesome picture, and you can never have too many dogs, just not enough house and/or land.

Great looking pup. Are you going to train him to track? Btw, how did Cat ever turn out on her tracking?

Cat and I didn't do too much training last year cause she was way hyper. She's doing pretty well though. I put her on the trail of a couple bears and she found them with a little help. One she got way off the trail but that was my fault :( , once I let her go where she wanted she was bang on. So, she's doing well, but it's me that needs some serious work.

I dunno what I"m gonna train Chevy for. If he's at all like mom he'll take to almost anything. He sure is easy to train though, already got him house trained, and gonna start on the other basic stuff soon. :)

Ice I wish you the best in whatever you decide to do with your training and don't be to hard on yourself. One thing that I've learned in trainiing your own dogs is that if you have a smart dog he can teach you almost as much you teach him. Pay attention to him while in the field, watch his body language and trust him. You'll find that he is right more often than not. Anyway good luck with Chevy and Cat and enjoy your time with them.
