Question for Geocachers
Do you keep a stash of trinkets to place in caches you find? Do you keep a box of whatever in your truck or at home? Or do you just grab some stuff before you head out? There are a lot of caches in the areas I go fishing and camping so I may go find one while I'm out there, kind of a spur of the moment thing. I'm real excited about finding some and hiding at least one of my own. Any other tips? Thanks.

What is a Geocache? I think I remembe Rocky posting something about it, but I never read his post.

I have 2 cans of Geocaching trinkets....there is the stuff that I have claimed(I keep these as souveniers)and I have a small fanny pack with my trade items.
I also ususally make a print out of the Geocache page....just in case!! |
I was thinking of throwing 2 cans in my truck: one for the stuff I take out and one for the stuff I'm gonna put in.

I need to order up some travel bug tags, these dinos are bound for distant lands. |
I'll be ordering 3 or 4 bugs, too. One for each of my boys, one for me and one for the wife if she wants one.

Skeeter,
I'm with you, I really want to try this too. Have to buy a GPS unit first though. I will most likely wait until winter is over here as well. It really does sound like fun though. GSG |
GSG I went to www.geocaching.com and signed up. I was amazed at how many sites there are close to my home..I spend lots of time in the parks walking, hunting etc and now it gives me another reason to walk the trails. Good luck.

I used Global Earth to check out some caches but I don't think GE is close enough to get ya in the ball park. But was fun and I didn't have to be out in the snow. I don't think I would trust the cords too much there.

Skeeter,
I bookmarked that site at one point. I've been there before and there are a lot of sites around where I live as well. I'm definitely going to try it in the Spring. Right now I couldn't find anything under all the snow. Guess that gives me some time to research GPS units. GSG |

burried canisters contain small rewards and things for your efforts in finding it, but you are also asked to place something cool back in the box for the next person to find... or just hide your box nearby..whatever works... just remember when you hide a BRAND NEW cache, to post it on the national board so we know its there.. needed to geocache, metal detector, outdoor hiking stuff, munchies, and effort..have fun ! watch out for SNAKES, SPIDERS, CENTIPEEDS, BADGERS, AND THE LIKE... |
