Savage 775 & Winchester Model 50

Anyone have first-hand ownership experience with either a Savage 775 or Winchester Model 50. Both are modern semi-autos from the 1950's?

I'm looking to possibly one or the other, and would appreciate your feedback.

775 &M-50

Sorry I didn't see this post earlier. I must be shirking my duties... The Savage 775 is a long recoil action semi auto based on the Browning patent. Not bad guns but surely not a pre Jap Browning in quality. They like the Browning have some issues with cracking forends etc. They are not bad guns. The Winchester M-50 is a short recoil based shotgun designed in the 40's. I have had a few of them and they are well made guns. They also have their own issues..mostly with reliability. They worked fine with paper shells but never had much luck with plastics for some reason..at least in my experience with 5 different guns. M-50's in really nice condition with a Vent rib etc will go for pretty high prices now. There are much better newer guns that would suit your hunting needs.

Mod 50

I have been shooting two Mod. 50's since the early 60's. I have found them to be very nice, well made shotguns. I have never experienced any problems with reliability.

I will say they tend to be a little butt heavy and they throw empties a long way... maybe up to 20'. I would not want to be to the right of a Mod 50 in a duck blind.
