22-250 Question
 

I'm looking for a 22-250, for dogs to yotes, and have heard a lot of favorable things about the Savage (110). Still havent decided for sure, or found one for that matter. But....

I will not be handloading -stricty factory loads intended. Anyone have a 22-250 and use only factory available rounds ?

In recent years the Savages have really come up in quality. They used to build good guns, but you had to do alot of finish work on them to get them to function and shoot good, but now days they are finishing them right at the factory. Another good thing about them is that to change barrels all you have to do is get a barrel wrench and some chamber gages and you can change barrels yourself. You can get barrels from Sharp Shooters Supply for alittle less than $300 that you can screw in and abt. all will shoot 1/2 moa groups, or better.

I'm very pleased with my Savage 12's performance as well as the accutrigger. You take up the slack in the safety trigger and touch the regular trigger you had better have the crosshairs on the target because the leads is about to fly. Shoots great.

Cons : heavy

If you're going to be doing alot of walking it can be a tote.

I bought a new CZ 550 in .22-250 a few weeks ago and I am very pleased with how it shoots so far. It was a little over $500. I'll only be shooting reloads in it though, but I would bet it would shoot factory well too.

Savage makes a fantastic rifle and the 22-250 is a great caliber.

I had a Remmy VS 22-250 and upgraded to a VSSF-II in 22-250 and like both.
A friend is buying a Savage 12VLP in 22-250 and I don't think he will be sorry.

My father bought me a Rem model 788 for my 16th birthday 1968. I'm still shooting it today! Handloads, factory loads don't matter! Back then I'm almost sure he only paid $80, boy am I getting his moneys worth, "may he rest in peace!

Ya, I should also mention gas was .21 cents a gal. back then too! Unbelievable!
