Deer chilie and sausage seem to be a norm in camp. Does any one have a tradition of any typs of foods like stuffed cabage or stuffed peppers. |
Yeah ad 4 cans of slime packed vienna sausages to three cans of pork and beans, and add in a bottle of louisiana redhot. . . .

There are no words.....:D GSG |
Spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam.
(It's a Monty Python thing, if anyone is old enough to remember) :) ;) |
I do remember that. There is (or was, not sure if it is still running) also the musical Spamalot, based on Monty Pythons the Holy Grail.

The current flavor of spam include
SPAMŽ Classic 12 ounces 7 ounces SPAMŽ Hickory Smoked Flavored SPAMŽ Hot & Spicy SPAMŽ Less Sodium SPAMŽ Lite SPAMŽ Oven Roasted Turkey However don't be disturbed if you find a flavor not on the list. Hormel, like many companies, attempts a few new flavors ever couple of years, and since spam has a half-life of the square root of the national debt you can expect to find all kinds of variety here and there. Also keep in mind the wonders of vienna sausages, MREs, and cheeze whiz. . . . . . . :D GoodOlBoy |
wrenchman, Im always designated camp beech and if I dont cook swiss steak made with venison , cucumber salad, fried potatoes, and fried bread I would probably be demoted to dishwasher (a nasty thought)
|
We youse to make dutch oven back straps and potatos once a week in deer camp we kind of got out of it becouse of the lousy weather last couple years.
Dutch oven food has a taste all its own. |
I remember one Elk season, long ago with a life long friend.
Up on the Uncompagre Plateau. Snow and Cold. The "grub" in our day box froze. Pudding, Ortega's and more significantly ..........the canned Sardines. My Bud named them "Sard-icicle's"... for a sardine popcicle the name stuck. They weren't ALL that bad.......but...... as they say........."Don't try this at Home!" Moral: It's just another thing I Love about Hunting .........the memories that oft times have NOTHING to do with the "Havesting"!!!! RR ;) |
Don't fergit no deer er fishin camp is complete without a pack o them little cheese and crackers with the little red spreadin stick an the crackers busted all ta hooie. . . . .
Ah I remember the good ol days huntin all day long only goin ta a little country store long enough ta pick up a barbque sammich, stale tom's cheese puffs, and a nearly froze coke in a green glass bottle! NOW THATS GRUB! GoodOlBoy |
I wish they still made Coke in glass bottles and sold them in vending machines. There is nothing like an ice cold coke from a vending machine on a hot day. It always seemed like the glass bottles kept things more cold.
|
They did keep them more cold AND they didnt leave that plastic flavor we have all gotten almost use to nowadays. . . .
GoodOlBoy |
I guess they still make the glass bottles but only for special occasions. Plus they're quite expensive.
