who makes a good lever 44 Mag ???
I'm interested in a 44 mag lever rifle that has the same basic style as the model 94. I'm not sure if anyone even makes them any more. If you know where I can find one let me know.
Thanks |
I have an older Marlin 1894 (1972) that is a great rifle. Shoots jacketed stuff within 2" at a hundred yds, with a peep sight. For my old eyes that's great. A joy to carry all day. My son has the new Ruger and likes it real well, it's scoped and is still handy to carry. It is a lot easier to load and unload than the Marlin. Hope this helps.

Rossi Puma 44 mag
I have a Rossi Puma model 92 in 44 mag with a 24 inch Octagon barrel that is solid stainless steel. (Rossi was bought by Taurus a few years ago so the quality has gotten better) the original sights are crappy so I replaced them and they are great now. the groupings are in the 4 inch mark at 100 yds. the safety is kind of odd but at least you can not miss it if you see the gun you will know what I am talking about. it is a great brush gun and I use it in place of my blued guns if it is wet outside because it takes alot to rust.
I know it is not the traditional Model 94 but for me it is stainless steel and shoots strait. |
Marlin 1894. Kinda looks Win 94. Not a bad rifle.

Marlin

Bought a Marlin 1894 last year. LOVE it! out of the box it was pretty "on" with any 240gr. factory stuff i fed it and it shot the 320gr. cor-bon surprisingly well. can't go wrong.

Marlin makes the absolute BEST of the pistol cartridge levers. Some others out there make some DECENT ones. I have a rossi in 45LC and you can shoot one hole groups with it at 50 yards, but the marlin is STILL the BEST gun.

Marlin, Rossi, and Browning that i know of.
I'd probably pick the marlin first, but my stepdad had a browning lever .44mag, and it would be a _very_ close second choice. |
thumbs up for the Marlin 1894S. I have been killing deer and hogs with this one for over 10 years.

Go with the Marlin-best lever on the market.

Another vote for Marlin
Take care...
