Uberti Cattleman
 

I saw a SA Uberti Cattleman I really like. It has a charcoal blueing on it that really stands out, how is the quality on these revolvers? I have a Ruger Vaquero, but the Uberti is lighter and frankly prettier. I know I cannot shoot as hot a loads in the Uberti, but I dont like pain anyway...

American Rifleman did a review about them three years or so ago, and they didn't have anything negative to say about them. I don't remember everything they said, and the magazine is in storage, otherwise I'd get it out to refresh my memory.

I've seen the one with the charcoal bluing, and it looks nice. Roger at the gun store near me said that he's sold a lot of them, and none have come back (always a good sign). I've handled a few of them, but have never fired one. They had it retailed for around $425, but that was in '06. I found one in plain black for $385 also.

For a relatively inexpensive cowboy pistol, AR claimed that it's pretty good. It's on my list, but I keep finding other stuff that I want just a little bit more.

Use cowboy loads in it, take care of it, and you will probably never have to even think about having it repaired. Uberti makes some good guns, but like you said they will not handle the warm loads. Most of them shoot and feel pretty darned good from what I have seen and shot.

The gun is actually no different than a Colt SAA for all intents and purposes. Heck some pats may interchange. The finish on mim=ne is well done and fit on the parts is very good. Shoots ok but I am not a great pistol shot anyway. Mine gets carried most of the time with shot loads for rattlers. Did shoot at one (trotting)coyote at about 45 yds and missed the sucker by inches:rolleyes: I did polish the edges of the hammer etc just a little and the sear just a bit to lighten the trigger up some...but I am a tinkerer. Paid 250 for mine ...used of course but it is as new. I did good on that one.:D

I have one with the brass grip frame. It's very nice. As others have stated, stick to original factory loads or cowboy loads as this revolver is not the equal of the Ruger Blackhawks. (It is a lot prettier, though, in my opinion!)

My sentiments exactly. A lot prettier than a Ruger...but of course not as strong
