electronic deer calls

Anyone ever use an electronic call while deer hunting? I never have but I am interested in possibly trying it this season. I would think setting one up near a decoy might make for an interesting hunt. What have your experiences been?

well heck

would it even be legal? I know in many states it is legal to bait deer but it don't hardly seem quite right. Now baitin ducks is a bit of a different story:rolleyes:

Electronic calls are illegal in Indiana now. The law changed in the past few years.

It is an effective way to get deer off a neighbor's land and into your hunting property. A male decoy and the electric call will sometimes bring about a dominance fight. I have kiiled mature deer using the caller. I have also seen it scare the living daylights out of deer that looked very mature. I guess some deer are lovers and some are fighters.

Anyway it is illegal now and only non electronic calls and rattling like in the texas brush country are allowed. Just kinda harder to call/bang horns/stomp the ground and stay hidden in the area when it is a 10 foot wide fence row surrounded by 1 square mile of harvested corn.

Electronic calls used to hunt deer are legal in my state. What doesn't "seem quite right"? I have used mouth calls from stands for years with success so moving the sound on over to the decoy sounds like a good thing to do to me.

I have an Extreme Dimensions Wildlife call that was given to me by the owners of the company. I think it comes with 50' of cable, heck they may even be wireless now. Makes just about every call that I bring in my arsenal all in one package. I've never used it, since it's illegal here in PA. The basic concept is being able to set the speaker away from your area where the deer won't pick you out. Makes sense, much like varmint calling.

I've never used it, nor probably will I..but it's a neat concept. I just prefer to bring my own grunt tubes, bleat calls and horns with me. All pack easily in my pack, with exception to my rattlin' horns. I use a pretty big set, but they are strapped to the outside of my pack. I suppose if I was allowed, I'd be apt to try it anyhow. Check out their site...I may have one of the first models for sale ;) since I have no use for it. I'll bet mine is over 6-7 yrs old, and never really used it! It was when they first were starting the company and were actually an advertiser here. Just one more company Huntchat helped to get their name out there
