Buried in Snow

We got our late snow storm starting yesterday and it is still dumping. Interstate 90 is closed and things are pretty much at a stand still.
There is much needed moisture in the feet of snow we have gotten so that is a good thing and Sat. it is supposed to be in the 50's so then the floods will start I suppose.

Snow

Nulle we are getting just a little of that snow y'all have been getting. We really need it too. We haven't had the equivalent of a 1/2 inch of rain this whole year. But we really don't need feet of snow. We may get 2 or 3 inches if we are lucky. Hope all goes ok. No floods..just try to get it to soak in:eek:

I hate to say it, but please keep it there...

We have already had 2 spring storms that gave us as much snow as we had for the winter!

We are finally able to go and get our bear baits out this weekend, about 2 weeks late.

Nulle and toxic.

Boy, we were praying we would get some of that moisture. North Dakota is in a world of hurts. It's absolutely miserable dry here.

The storm Nulle was talking about headed our way then turned east and stayed South of I-94. We didn't get so much as a drop of rain or snow.

Usually when there are storms in the Hills they head Northeast and clobber us. That has not been the case since last summer. I don't think we have had a foot of measureable snow all winter.

If we don't get moisture soon it's going to be a lousy crop year and during normal years ND leads the nation in Wheat production. I don't farm but I certainly understand the farmers plight. Food prices are already through the roof and this ain't gonna help. Better get a garden in if you haven't already done so. Words to the wise.

Best wishes, Bill

Yall can have some of our moisture. Between the snow and ice all winter and ungodly rain and flooding all spring, we are as wet as I have ever seen it. It rains every other day, literally.

We need to dry out a little. Its getting ridiculous.

Nulle 11-06-2008 06:45 PM

Well it is 11-06-08 and we are burried in SNOW. Nothing moving in Western South Dakota with snow and winds sustained at 60 +.
Snow totals are around 45" in lots of areas. God life is fun lol

Hey Billy,

I'm heading to the Rugby area for some duck & goose hunting on Monday. How much snow did you end up with in your part of the state ?

Dan Morris 11-07-2008 08:35 AM

Called Out ? The Chief and I spent all day directing traffic so the State Plows could get I-90 cleared out. I have spent 3 nights in a sleeping bag at my office but used to that on working fire lines and it was alot cleaner lol. Most of the other Officers were unable to get to work due to the snow and wind.

M.T.

We got 10 inches. All the highways were open by noon. BUT.

The roads are slicker than snot on a doorknob. Lots of Semis in the ditch. Got blowed right off the road.

Traveling East to West isn't too bad, going North South is a bear.

Haven't seen a lot of waterfowl movement in my area, it's been warm and they still have plenty of food. So they are stickin' up North.

Good hunting.

Best wishes, Bill

Billy, just got back. The ice was thick enough to walk on and the local ducks & geese moved out. The weather was nicer in Canada and the new migration we were hoping to hit hasn't arrived yet. We worked our way south to the Lidgerwood area and had a good goose hunt, very few mallards and they were cagey. Trying to time a migration hunt is hard, three days before we arrived there were geese everywhere.
