Who has a CCW Permit and practices all year round?

I know many local CCW folks because they came through my firearms classes at the local gun club. Occasionally, I see them in town and ask them when was the last time they shot their CCW arms.

Like Thomas Paine said in his pamphlet, "Common Sense", MOST are "Summer Soldiers and Sunshine Patriots." I see very little use of our nearby gun club facilities this time of year. Being a Board Member, I swing by the club at random times to check on the place: I rarely ever see any of our 194 members in January or February. I suspect many CCW folks suspend shooting for the Winter months. I would suggest that there are many nice days in Winter.

I shoot at an indoor pistol range....quite crowded this time of year.

Weather permitting, I hit the outdoor rage at Clear Creek County monthly.

If it's 0 or above ° I try to get out twice a week. This year has been an exception.

The wind has been horrendous and long periods of 0 and below and almost 48" of snow.

So I just practice my draw in the backyard while wearing my wniter clothing. Parka and light winter jacket.

I carry cross draw so I don't have to worry about trying to sort my way through two layers of clothing with one hand to get to my pistola.

I despise, loathe, hate shoulder carry. I am very comfortable with cross draw carry. Sides that I'm on the thin side and get printed.

Best wishes, Bill

I shoot as much as possible which isn't as much as I would like. We have indoor and outdoor ranges. I'm really not much for the indoor stuff so no matter what the temp is I'm out there. I normally shoot my handguns every other week or so. So many guns so little time.

I never got to like indoor ranges. I prefer to be outdoors on sunny, mild and nearly windless days. When the wind is howling 35 mph+, I go to the reloading room and load up for better days on the range.

Apparently, you have better weather in PA than we do here in MI.....what's a 'windless' day?;)

All year round it is. I have rarely even been on an indoor range. It may not be comfortable practicing in high wind or scorching sun but at least aat the outdoor range we use you have some cover under the overhangs over the benches. I would hate to think I never practiced in the weather I might someday be called upon to shoot in. . . . .

Mr. 16 gauge,

I dunno, but it seems most Sundays after church here in PA the sun comes out, it is about 30-35 degrees and nearly windless. I shoot a lot on my backyard range on Sundays.

Biblically, we are not to work on the Sabbath, but shooting is recreation and "pre-ban", if you will. This week we are to get sub-zero weather and that means lots of reloading in the reloading room.

Be well.

I run a course twice a year and my next one is in Feb. outside and don't matter what the weather is, when the date is set thats it.

I shoot every month. Shotguns at least 3 X's each month minimum of 300 targets ,rifle usually one a month usually 50 rounds in a 22lr and perhaps 10 rounds or so depending on caliber that day and handgun 2-3 X's usually 100 -200 round of 22lr and about 25 rounds of c.c. weapon.
Shooting the 22's working on quality instead of just shooting alot allows for less need to shoot more centerfire rounds in rifle and handguns becuase good solid fundamentals are the same nomatter what one shoots.

I carry several different revolvers and pistols, and I practice with all of them. I'll admit to less shooting these days, but then I have been doing this for some 45 years. I think I have it down fairly well.
