S&w 10-6

I traded a Russian Makarov for this old Smith earlier this year. The finish was bad, the cylinder a little loose, so I dropped it off at my gunsmith's.

I picked the revolver up today, and the old guy did one heck of a job on it. All new springs, tightened up, trigger job and a new finish.
He bead blasted it, buffed it, and Parkerized it for me. I have a new CCW holster on order from Sam Andrews Leather, and a set of Herret stocks.

I was able to shoot it at his range, and it sure is a sweet shooter.

The load will be a 140 grain Sierra HP over 8 grains of Blue Dot.

8x56MS,

Nice looking old Smith. Is that a heavy barrel? I hope you find a load that shoots to the fixed sights. I have some fixed-sighted guns, but prefer adjustable sights.

Good trade

I really like the older Smith & Wesson revolvers. All the best...

yes, its a three screw, pinned heavy barrel Model 10, with fixed firing pin.

The load I mentioned shoots to POA with this revolver.

Very good handgun. Originally when brought out was called the "NeW York State Police" model, as the wanted the heavy barrel. Years ago carried one that shot to point of aim at 25 yds. with Rem. 158 lead round nose. That was the standard law enforcement load for the 38 sp. I really enjoyed that revolver, should look for another one. Congradulations.

My Brother in Law carried one just like it in the FBI in 1972. The load was a 158 grain RN.
Later they moved on to a 158 grain LSWC, and then a 158 grain LSWC HP.

Next he got a Model 13 with the FBI 2.5 inch barrel. He used the .38 ammo. He said they could carry .357 ammo in their dump pouch, but not in the gun. Go figure.
