Youth Duck Hunt

This weekend is the youth duck hunt in Wisconsin. My 14 year old grandson was taken out to the marsh this morning. He fired 3 shots from his Browning BPS 16 ga. and got a drake woodduck and a drake BW teal. One happy young man. Also dad and grandpa.

Hey popplecop, glad to hear your grandson had a great hunt. I'll guarantee his dad enjoyed it as much or even more. 2 ducks with 3 shots is a better average than most!

Hope there are pictures to follow.

And with a lowly 16 gauge as well!;) EVERYONE knows you need a 3 1/2 inch magnum loaded with hevishot to kill a duck!:D

Hey popplecop.....what type of ammo was he using? Congratulate him on a successful hunt from all of us, O.K.?

Ducks and geese have become immune to 2 3/4 #5. You just cannot penetrate a elk or deer with anything but a 300 Mag.

So "they" say.

I believe he was shooting 1 oz bismuth 6s followed by Federal steel 2s. Some years ago I picked up several flats of bismuth 16s both 1 oz and 1.25 oz. 6s on a closeout sale. They have served us well.
