We went out sat and it was windy i wanted him to sit a ground blind but he insisted on hunting a tree stand.
I put him in a full body harnis made sure he was buckeled in right and went and hunted a ground blind.
i was watching a young doe threw the benos i had shots acouple times i chose to let here go.
My son started texting me dad u see any i text back yes text back and forth for a while then i look up and see him comeing across the field.
I asked if he seen anything he said he didnt see a thing but froze his but off
i told him maybe next time you hunt frome a bround blind so you can hunt till dark and wont be so cold.
I have noticed as i have gotten older comfert means a lot when hunting.
I do hunt frome tree stands but more when it is warmer.
I seen 3 deer sat all were to young all yearlings i would have had no problim with him takeing any of them he has yet to kill a deer with a bow.

We get wiser as we get older. The last time I hunted out of a tree stand there was snow on the ground and ice on the board I had to sit on in the tree. There was also ice on the board for my feet to rest on. After 2 hours, I had had enough and went to the truck. When I was younger, I would have sat there all day. Of course, this is what happens when I let my uncle plan the hunt. Great day regardless since I got to spend time with my uncle.

Hopefully, with the colder weather and rut getting ready to start, he'll see some deer this weekend. Good luck to you both!

My son-inlaw had my 10 yr. old granduther out last sat. They saw 2 but did not come into range. She is bound to kill a deer befor she is 12, the age at which her uncle got his first one.

Took my boy out for the youth hunt weekend. We had to leave early Saturday night so he could go to the homecoming dance ( where are his priorities? :) ). Right as we were getting ready to leave, a beautiful buck came running through. He has a little over 100 yard shot at it, but missed with my muzzle loader. Great learning experience for him. Hard on my nerves. :)

Lonewolf,

Tough on the nerves to take the kids out... But well worth it when it pays off. Good luck to you and the little ones.
