.22 short question

Will it cause any damage/harm to occasionally fire a .22 short out of a firearm that is chambered for the .22 long rifle? I have a Ruger MkII pistol that I would like to use on the trap line, but I don't want to fire LR cartridges for finishing off shots, if I can help it.
Thanks in advance.......

shorts

Won't hurt at all. If you shoot a lot of 'em you may have to clean the chamber. With some of the more corrosive ammo of the distant past it wasn't the best idea unless you cleaned the gun after use

Won't harm it- just clean the chamber if you shoot many, to avoid crud build up ahead of the case mouth of the short.
If you let crud build up in the LR chamber from firing shorts, you may find it hard to chamber LR's again.

Oh one more thing they are correct, often the cb longs won't even move the bolt on semis. Not an issue since you can just re-rack the slide and pop the next one.

Won't hurt it a bit, other than sometimes it don't chamber right in a semi. You should also consider CB longs. They don't have any powder in them, just primer. They work well for close up finish off shots, and don't make a ton of noise.

like the add says they are no louder than some pellet rifles (and in my old bolt model 67 they are actually quite a bit quieter than shorts)
