Leaf spring helper springs?

I want to beef up the suspension on my '79 cd10, I think I need to replace the shocks as they are factory original and I think they are just weak from time. But was wondering if the add on leaf helper springs are worth the money. IE I am looking to bump the rear from a 1k rear to a 1.5k rear (heavy half), for carrying loads.

Any advice?

Thanks

I used them on all of my work trucks and vans and was pleased with them.

It was surprising the weight I carried in tools all the time but you could not tell it by the way the vehicles sat or rode.

One time my pickup broke down and the wreker driver at how it made the winch work to get it picked up.

I added them to my '75 F-150 for use with a cab-over camper and heavy loads of firewood and, as I recall, I was well pleased with them.

Thanks guys that's the kind of info I need, I hate buying stuff like that unless somebody whose opinions I trust has used them.
