Powder horns while hunting?

I must admit...I have one, but I think I have only taken it hunting once or twice.:(
It's a lot easier to fill a few glass vials from work with the correct charge and cork them up. Besides, I usually don't get that many shots while big game hunting (and I would imagine others don't as well). Still, it ads to the "look" of the traditional hunter.
Maybe while small game hunting I can see a use...more shots, ect. However, I have another problem with my horn...the stopper doesn't stay in place, and I end up leaving a trail of black powder through the woods! If you have a match, you can easily find out where Mr. 16 gauge is hunting.......SSSSSsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss..BOOM! Oh, I guess he was over there in those trees!:D

Mr. 16 gauge,

I have two bigger powder horns and a smaller priming horn. I find using a horn and a measure while deer hunting at 5 degrees is a chore. I prefer the free nickel coin wrappers I get at my bank that contain a measured charge with the flaps secured with a bit of scotch tape.

I use horns at the shooting bench in Summer because they provide the proper atmosphere for muzzleloaders.

I haven't taken a powder horn into the field as yet. But I'm fairly new to traditional muzzleloading (less than 2 years). I carried a pouch or "possibles bag" and a period gourd canteen, period knife; but I still put my Goex in pre-measured plastic cylinders or cigar tubes. Powder horn looks cool, but not very practical IMHO.

I also carry my possibles bag with 2 plastic pre-measured powder loads, extra patches and balls. I carry my horn hunting just for looks. I do use my powder horn at the NYS muzzleloader meets.

I carry my powder horn when hunting small game but use pre-measured glass viles in my belt bag when deer hunting.
