New Carry Gun
Picked up a new carry gun. Sig p250SC, 9MM. Shot one over at the range
and loved it. Will replace the 1911. Lot smaller and easier to carry in summer months. Dan ;) Guy threw in 200rds of HydraShocks with it.....long term supply for carry! |
The older I get the heavier these handguns get. With me when they feel heavy I leave them home which isn't good. My main carry gun is a Mod 60 SW in 38 special. Light enough I can put it in my coat pocket and be fine. I do like the Sig's. They are awesome. The 9mm wtith the right ammo is a good stopper. Good luck.

Dan, I got an FNH Model FNP is 40 S&W a yeaar ago. They are rather hard to come by. They are exactly like a Sig Sauer P229. Very light, until you insert a 14 round loaded magazine. Shoots like a dream. I like the haammer down on a loaded chamber since it has a great DA trigger pull. You don't feel you need to reposition your hand going from DA to SA. The power level is very similar to the 45 ACP.

Larry, the 250 is a DA only....kid was a Sig rep...bought it for his bride that thought it was too heavy. One I wound up with was the one I shot. On a silouette at 10 yds, they were all k5's....trigger is a measurted 5.1lbs. Paid too much but it shoots without a problem!!! Plus, in Denver the Hydros are going for $1.50 a round....IF you can find it! 12rd mag...
Didn't get it for a regular shooter, just a carry! Dan  |
I just picked up an XD40 for daily open carry. If I can find a decent IWB holster for my PT140 Millennium that will be my CCW piece. Since I'll be carrying pretty much all the time once I retire from the AF in a few months you can bet I'll be taking them both out as often as I can for practice

My daily carry gun is a KEL-TEC P-32. It is small, light, and easy to carry.
I own other larger handguns, but they tend to stay at home. gold40 |
I would love to be able to carry...concealed or open. Would be nice.

Have several small autos I use, mainly a Ruger LCP and a Para PDA 9mm. Sometimes also carry my old Colt LW Commander in 45 acp. Wanted a revolver also as carried mainly revolvers during my LE career plus was a factory trained S&W Armorer. Couldn't find much readily available, but a distributor had 2 different ones that interested me. Number one was a Taurus 905G 9mm that uses full moon clips. Works like a charm, will work with it more once we get a day above freezing. The other one will arrive Tues. and it is a Charter Arms .327 Fed. Mag. Already have an older Ruger Single Six in 32 H&R Mag so that's why I wanted this one. The 9mm was a natural as I have a 1911 in 9 and the PDA. Might even get my old S&W 36 back from my son, so then will have 3 different makes and calibers. Will see how they work out for me this spring.

popplecop,
Like you, I carried many guns in my LEO career. Autos are nice, but per my experience, they are dependent on PERFECT ammo and Perfect magazines. I also went to the S&W Armorers School and built 5, M65 3-inch .357 revolvers and was allowed to buy one. I carry either my M65 or a Colt Cobra in a pocket of my Woolrich hunting coat as I go about town in Winter. Bad Stuff will go down in three seconds or less so BIG Magazines are merely mental games for those never before in a "Hot Corner." Be well. Adam |
Can't remember for the life of me what we built, do remember it was 3 and allowed to purchase one. Later sold mine to a fellow warden who still has it after all these years. I have, had, son using it now S&W 36 that I got back in the mid 60s, and liked better than the ones we built.

I have settled in with a Springfield XDS .45 compact. Small, fairly light, easy to carry.
Most of the compact 9mm pistols are no smaller, and I like a .45 over anything else for CCW. I liked the XDS so much, I bought two of them. :) http://i626.photobucket.com/albums/t...lf/XDSDuo2.jpg |
8X56MS,
Nice looking guns and a nice photo. Are those as-issued extended magazines or after market magazines? How many rounds will the mag hold? Adam |
I like a nice little snubbie 38 with a spur hammer myself, but whatever floats yer boat is the best ya can get. Congrats on the new pistolier (pronounced piss-toll-yerr in my neck o the woods :D ).

Had a gal down the road give me a Kel-Tec 9mm to sell She shot it a whole 5 times. Think it was a little bitey if you know what I mean. She even bought another mag for it. Momma has a Kahr 9mm and really likes it. I may keep this Kel-Tec. Like the Kahr better but I can buy this darn thing for about 275..I guess that is a fair price..I don't follow pocket pistols much..but I get the box of ammo too. And can buy two more from her for 10 bucks each. Heck the Kahr cost a good bit more than that. As far as carrying.. I don't very much..but when I do it is usually the Wilson Combat. and I also have a Smith M-19 4 inch gun that is fairly easy to carry. I sometimes.. mostly summer..carry the Para LDA 6 shooter. Pretty easy to hide. Small but heavy. Trigger pull on that thing is kinda weird. Ya always wonder if it is going to fire..but it always do.

Skeet just went to a S&W show at a local dealer. He was hassling me about buying something so I bought mama a new 60 airweight, the 637-2 which is basically a 60 made of scandium with a SS barrel and cylinder. I have rarely bought her anything she likes better. She carried that 60 for years but keeps walking over to the new box and pulls out the little 5 shooter and plays with it constantly. You know, that 60 weighs a ton compared to that little airweight.
Oh, I have a Kel Tec 380 that I carry in my back pocket all the time, very handy. The recoil is not bad and I can hit a can top at 10 yards with it. Most folks that have the 9mm like them pretty well. Ed |
