US Post office law regards firearms in parking lot
 

How many of you knew it was against the law to bring a firearm into a parking lot of a post office? Well the law was struck down.

That is the problem while having a CC. If out and about, can't go here, can't go there if have it on you. Now what? Congrats for the judge who does not have his head buried in the sand and can see the need for such a thing now days.

I think this is wonderful, many thanks for your post. As a retired Postal Inspector, I think this is a good ruling by the Judge. I was amazed at all the "Rules" the USPS enacted. Once I asked a "Hump", Who owns the Post Office and its parking lots?" He said, "We make the rules." I again asked, "But who owns the Post Office?"

I firmly believe a Permit to Carry MEANS to carry wherever the CCW folk choses to go. The Bad Guys cannot qualify for a CCW and carry where they wish. What part of Common Sense has ESCAPED the Regulation Makers????

Is that gun BAN for only honest folks, or are criminals included? If criminals are affected, we need another law for ALL criminals to go to their local police station and turn themselves in. Right?

I advise folks to leave their guns in their cars and NOT ADVERTISE the fact. What is in your vehicle is your business unless you foolishly agree to a "Consent Search" absent a Search Warrant. Just saying.... Another option is to park on the nearby public street, put a dime in the parking meter and walk 25 yards to go get your mail at the Post Office.

I have had a CCW in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania since 1967. In my opinion it is a 24-hour a day license. I do not give up my rights when i go to the post office, the bank or grocery store. As we know, bad folks are not hindered by any laws and neither am I. So it depends what your prefer. All the best...

So, Gil, DO YOU CCW in the Post Office? What are you saying about your CCW Rights?

We are on the "Same Page" and this lawsuit was a suit looking for a perch! Why didn't the litigant merely LEAVE his handgun in his console and go get his "junk mail" and leave? NO, he had to "make a case" and in the real world who gives a hoot?

Leave your handgun secreted in your vehicle or park on the public street and LET GO of the issue of dealing with government regulations. Get a LIFE!

When I carry concealed no one knows what I have. So far I have not carried in a post office, but if I did only I would know it. You point is correct, keep a low profile or leave the piece in your vehicle. All the best...
