Who weighs their cast bullets?
I have casted bullets for rifles and handguns for decades and recently began weighing my cast bullets; it was an education. I found that in lots from the same 10-pound pot of bullet metal the weights of bullets varied several grains.
I now weigh all my cast bullets before sizing and lubing. My criteria is 0 for the base weight and +.5+, 0 and -.5+ grains for the base weight. I end up with three tubs of bullets: Light, Zero and Heavy. My groups have tightened more than I suspected by shooting similar weight bullets. Try it, you may like it. Adam |
weighing buyllets for rifle shooting makes sense but handgun bullets not so much...unless you are casting for target shooting. Even commercial cast bullets have a fair amount of variation. So unless you are a bullseye shooter in handgun...not worth the bother.
