And I am curious as to whether your bullet was hardened all the way through, or just the rear (driving bands) portion. I made some partially hardened .45/70 bullets once (457122HP's), and they shot well all the way up to 2200 FPS. But I never had a chance to try them on game, so I don't know what their expansion characteristics would have been....
