comparison was made in the feild, shooting from sand bags and bypods. both scopes mounted on ruger #1s made for pretty good comparison, we started out punchn paper then went to hitn jack rabbits.
we used sand bags to hit paper and moved to the more flexible bipods to get on the rabbits. well i did alittle bit of both sand bag and bipod rabbit shooting.
im getting on leos website to compare the 6.5-20 vxIII 30mm eye relief to the vxII 6-18 1"
vxII 6-18x40 target dot has 3.7"- 4.7"s of relief
vxIII6.5-20x40 30mm 3.6"- 5"
pretty dang close. 6-18 has hair better relief on 18 power than the 20 power does on 20, but then the 20 power is winning the relief on the low end.
i havent done a comparison in the feild with the 6.5-20 vxIII 30mm scope to know. but the eye relief numbers may mean its alittle finicky or it may mean it just has a unoticed little exstra releif on the high power.
4.5-14 vxIII 30MM has 4.4-3.6"s of relief. this is another i havent tried in the feild. but is planned to be my next scope purchase.
hmmmm just noticed the 14 power is low on relief when compared to the 20 and 18 power glass, i would have thought it would be the other way around.
also these numbers mean nothing. it all depends on how the glass feels in the realworld. we could have a scope with 6.5"s of relief but it wont mean beans if you cant see through it without straining or constantly moveing your head back and forth to find the best feild of view that seems to be changeing ever other time you blink your eye.
as a hole ive found most all leo scopes to be easy to look through. but the old 6.5-20 wasnt the best of the bunch when compared to my vxIII 4.5-14x40 1" 3-9 x40 vxII and 6-18vxII
