Tactical Pistol Courses

I think participating in tactical pistol matches helps a CCW holder prepare for the gravest extreme. In the past I shot a lot of PPC matches that were more beneficial than a box or two of ammo shot at a bullseye target in a leisurely fashion. Bullsye is fine for introductions, but the pressure of a tactical course helps groove the procedure.

Yesterday I shot my first IDPA matches at the local club. It is a 90-round course with 3 targets at distances up to 25 yards, with some firing from cover and some stages strong hand or weak hand only. I fired the course with a 4-inch M686 Smith and a Colt M1911. Next time I plan on firing the M19 Glock. My club will hold a match once a month. The matches are fun. Is anyone else shooting tactical pistol?
