The commercials were OK.
The game was OK.
But the "entertainment" was gruesome. Just plain awful describes it best. I finally realized that it was Super Bowl XL - and maybe that's why the songs were 40 years old.
The worst was the National Anthem. Why these idiotic performers think they have to make it an entertainment performance I cannot understand. IT ISN'T A POP TUNE, FATHEADS! It's supposed to be sung with pride, patriotism and solemnity, not wailed and yodelled and bastardized. The anthem is supposed to bring a swell to your chest and a tear to your eye, not a pang and a sneer. More reason - not that any more was needed - that celebrities and performers are scum.
