heres old father time reporting in. on the two wheeled deer carts: the best thing since sex and sliced bread, not that they go together really. i usually leave it away from my stand which also gets hauled out on the cart along with field gear, stove and food. i like a hot meal at lunch and i don't give a rats rump if the deer do smell it. i've had a few hunters meander up at lunch time, they sure appreciated a hot cup of ol' joe and the conversation.
i gut as soon as i retrieve the animal when it's above 40°. i then haul my skinny behind back to my truck with the deer and there i have waiting bags of ice in a cooler. put the ice bags in the gut cavity and i don't worry then till i get to the processor. i've never had a bad tasting deer and no tainted meat. i make the ice by filling large coffee cans with water and putting them in the deep freeze. works for me.
lilreds idea of getting rid of the scent glands is a good one. dig them little bugers outta there.
i'm gone, going down to minneapolis till next friday to visit my grandaughter.
have a good one everybody.
