If I was in the market for a new GPS, this is probably where I would go... http://www.garmin.com/products/etrexLegendcx/

It has expandable memory, colour screen and can be loaded maps (topo & street).

I have the same GPS, but not the colour version, and it has come in handy quite a few times.. and it has not been hard on batteries..

Its worth a look.
