TD,
Last year I bought layout blinds for my dad and me, and I also bought a dog hut for Nitro. Last year, he just could not stay in that blind when he saw geese coming in. Even if it was a single. We had a group of three coming straight in last year, wings set, landing gear down, and as soon as they got to within 80 yards, Nitro shot out of that blind like a rocket.
Last weekend, he was pretty good with the small groups, but we had a bunch around us for about 30 minutes. Some were groups of 50+ and there were bunches of small groups all over the place. I guess he just couldn't handle the excitement and he vlew out of the hut when a group of four decided to come in. Before I knew what happened, he was already 100 yards away chasing after the birds, but as soon as I started yelling at him he stopped on a dime, came back, and ran right into the hut.
What is hard to understand is that as soon as I put that hut up while we were setting up, he ran right into it as if he knew that was where he is supposed to be. The excitement is what is killing him. I'll have it worked out by the end of the season though.
