rattus58,

John Locke said many good things in the 18th Century about self-government and the best was the "right to revolt."

He said, "We have the Right to Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness and when any government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it."

We Americans revolted in 1775 at Lexington and Concord and still possess that Right today. Happily, we can, and do, excersise the right to change government at the ballot box. The unfortunate statistic is only about 60% of American citizens vote.
