I've seen the chainlink gate used before, with 2 railroad ties on it for weight.
the other "thing" i saw used, was some old 4 foot wide, 3/4inch thick rubber conveyerbelt, cut 10 feet long, and nailed to 4 railroad ties, and dragged behind a small tractor.
all depends on how smooth you need it, and how rough it is to start with.
