Taking newbies is always a hoot! I can still see Mike Gallup's face when he killed his first deer at long range. When we first got there, he looked at the mountain in disbelief. Sort of like "what in the world are we doing here". 20 minutes later he had taken a deer on that mountain as was grinning from ear to ear. Another kid that we took a couple of years ago was the same way. It's really fun to see their reaction when you find a deer, walk them through the steps and then have them be the trigger man.

Most don't realize how long it takes for a bullet to travel that far either. When you're used to shooting at 100 or even 200 yards, it's easy to get used to the instantaneous bullet impact. Like petey says, when it stretches out there, you can recover from the recoil and watch you own bullet hit. Pretty neat...
