Speer and Hodgdon use a COL of 2.140" in their data for a 70 gr bullet. I don`t know the bullet you plan to use but you should be OK if you work up your load at a shorter lenght. Nothing is cut in stone as far as the manuals recommenations. Your rifle will tell you what lenght, powder charge, bullet, ect, it likes and that is what you should work with.
